A sea freight quote depends on the origin and destination, FCL or LCL service, cargo dimensions and gross weight, container type, collection and delivery, route and sailing, port and carrier charges, customs scope, insurance and any specialist handling. Jenkar provides shipment-specific quotes rather than a universal rate.
Transit time depends on the ports, route, sailing schedule, direct or transhipment service, customs clearance and inland collection or delivery. A quote should distinguish the estimated port-to-port transit from the full door-to-door plan.
Provide the collection and delivery locations, origin and destination ports if known, Incoterm, ready date and deadline, goods description and value, package count, dimensions and gross weight, and any dangerous-goods, temperature-control, loading or customs requirements.
Verified gross mass, or VGM, is the verified weight of a packed container. Under SOLAS, the shipper named on the bill of lading is responsible for providing it in time for the vessel stowage plan, and a packed container cannot be loaded without it.
