Ask our team
Customs clearance is the required process goods go through when entering or leaving a country. It protects security, health and the economy by checking the documentation and details before goods cross the border.
On average, customs clearance can be processed within 24-48 hours, but delays can happen if documents are missing, duties are unpaid, goods are restricted, labels are incorrect or authorities need a detailed inspection.
Once a shipment has cleared customs, it is released and transported to its final destination for delivery or collection, after the documentation has been processed and all duties, taxes and fees have been paid.
Common documents include a commercial invoice, bill of lading, certificate of origin, air waybill, export licence and export declaration. The exact documents depend on the origin, destination, goods and transport mode.
